Tunbridge Wells (my home town) is beautiful all year round, but even more so at Christmas! I recently attended the Ice Rink opening which well and truly got me in to the Christmas spirit... not that I really needed any encouragement.
The Ice rink opening was quite spectacular. We were treated to a rather lovely festive reception with all sorts of refreshments provided by Hotel Du Vin, Wagamamas and also a local foodie company called Basil... all followed by displays on the rink put on by skaters from Silver Blades Gillingham and Invicta Dynamos Ice Hockey Club. If only I had a little bit of their skating skills then i'd be ok!
All performances were incredible... the ice hockey players that came on were the U9 team. They were soon tiny and absolutely flew around the rink!
You can find the ice rink in the beautiful Calverley park in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, and it is open for business right now and until Monday 2nd January.
I do go ice skating every year... and each year I can't believe how bad I am! Having been a gymnast until the age of 18 I thought some of that balance would have stayed with me... but clearly not. I just rely on my hubby to power me round the rink!
If you are close to the area then I would of course suggest a visit! You can buy ice rink tickets here. It's not just the ice rink either, there are plenty of little wooden huts with all sorts of treats in... I'd highly recommend a hot chocolate while wondering!
If you are feeling super festive then you are probably also have panto on the mind... fear not, Tunbridge Wells Assembly Halls also has that to offer! This year, the classic 'Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs' is on show for the public... with all tickets available here.
Oh, I also had to show this image... The Mayor of Tunbridge Wells getting into the Christmas spirit on the ice, with a little help from the childrens seal!
I feel that now it is December Christmas really is beginning! The advent calendar is well under way and my tree went up this weekend along with a lot of other festive decorations. I couldn't be happier it is this time of year again!
I hope this post has got you all in the Christmas spirit and if you live near Tunbridge Wells then this has helped with any plans to visit! Merry Christmas to all!
