I'm so excited to be publishing this post! I could not be happier with how our baby's nursery has turned out. I'm totally in love with it!
I took so much inspo from Pinterest and have had this all planned since the first time I got pregnant so to finally see it all put together in my home feels amazing. As I walk past it on the way to my room it really does make me smile.
Not knowing what our little bundle of joy is going to be, we have had to go fairly neutral although I'm not sure I actually would have done it any differently if we did know. Maybe just a couple more pink or blue accessories but I really like how fresh this looks with the odd colour splash!
I always knew I wanted some sort of colourful pom pom garland in the baby's room. I wasn't sure how I was going to do this, but am so happy with the way it's turned out where I've hung it almost as a bed head. It adds the perfect amount of colour to the room which I really didn't want to be too white! I found this garland on Etsy (all links below)
These prints were also an Etsy job. Initally found via Pinterest, I knew I wanted some little baby animals for the wall art. Again, rather than going for two grey animals which was very tempting... I went for this little duckling to add just an extra bit of colour to the room. Aren't they just so cute! I'm so in love with them. Super easy to do as well as you could pay for these on Etsy and just download them. I then got them printed and have used some good old Ikea frames so all very reasonable too!
All of the furniture in here is Ikea. The two chests of drawers we already had, so just made an order for the cot which I think is so gorgeous! I added the little padded bumper round the top of the cot which I found on amazon. I just think it makes the cot look a little cosier!
A couple of items that I was SO excited to get where my rocking chair and footstall. Again... these were things I decided would be going in the nursery so long ago now. To finally order them and see them looking so lovely in the room feels amazing. The rocking chair is so comfortable and I cannot wait to sit here feeding the baby.
I am beyond happy with how the nursery has turned out and cannot wait to see it in use. I come and sit in here most days and just admire it (does that make me sound like a crazy lady?) I just love it so much!! We are all ready for a little person to arrive... I hope they love it as much as I do!
DASSIE ARTISAN is a beautiful new store I stumbled across in my home town, Tunbridge Wells. I was immediately drawn in by a large wall of sequin baskets! They stock a whole range of beautiful home wear all in lovely neutral colours, featuring a lot of marble which is definitely a favourite of mine!
If I stayed in there long enough I could easily spend far too much money. Everything is so beautiful.. and somehow you reason with your self that you need it all!
Today I am showing you 3 of my favourite products. First up is the gorgeous sequin basket which I previously mentioned. This actually comes in three sizes (and also gold), I have the large and can't help but be tempted by adding a whole little family of sequin baskets! I'm using mine by my back door at the moment holding blankets for the summer nights spent on the patio.
I absolutely LOVE this bowl. I wont put this in the cupboard because I feel it really needs to be seen! This bowl also comes in a larger size and think they would so lovely together. Perfect for serving salads... I can't wait to use this at my next bbq!
The marble paddle board, as well as looking lovely perched on my work top is a really lovely serving board! I have plans to serve chopped bread on this with a little bowl of oil and vinegar at the end. I'll be needing to pop back in to the Dassie Artisan store for a little bowl!
For a fair few months now, my home has been a massive project which I have absolutely loved completing (or nearly completed anyway) Finally we are almost there. After years of wanting a house to fit shutters too, we finally have shutters! I have painted almost every surface possible in either white or grey adding the odd colourful accessory to brighten things up a little! Well, here is a sneak peak in to my home where the majority of stuff if very affordable and most likely from IKEA of Homesense!
Our living room was the first room we completed. When we moved in we had no TV or Internet for 3 weeks, and with the mobile phone signal being completely non existent we got a whole lot of painting done pretty quickly. This room was transformed from magnolia to grey in days, with our new Marks and Spencer sofas arriving just in time to make this room look like home.
Our coffee table came with us from the old place, and this grey rug I found in Homesense (which soon became my favourite shop in the world). Also from Homesense in this room, my silver coat hook. I think this is one of the first things I bought when we had made an offer on this house. You know that pile you have for when you finally have a home... this was first! You may have spotted the grey blanket on the sofa with the lime green stripe running through it... this too was from Homesense and to my delight it made it on to the Daily Mail!! I bought it for £19.99 and John Lewis (I'm a HUGE fan of John Lewis by the way!) were selling it for £95! I know, so savvy of me.
A rather large feature in this room which I haven't yet mentioned is my lovely cow oil painting. When I saw this hanging in the shop window I fell in love with it! I think I have a thing for cows... as you will see more through out my post (and I haven't even featured them all!) I bought the painting from a little shop in Tunbridge Wells called Fi Chi.
Now... on to the dining room!
I'm a lover of all things Scandi and this is by far my most Scandi style inspired room. Everything that was wooden in here soon got painting white and decorated with something grey... what ever that may be! Featuring a rather large log pile which my husband is absolutely not allowed to touch or use the logs for burning (absurd idea) these are decoration only! Didn't realise I was quite so protective over them until I starting writing this!
Along side my lovely logs... my mantle piece has three light grey Ikea candle sticks, two mini house candles (I'm not sure where these came from as were a Christmas present, and actually I don't plan to burn them. Far to pretty) along with a couple of Ikea frames. In one, a 'Hello You' post card from Paperchase which I just thought was lovely because I love typography prints and even better when it's on a white and grey swirly background. At only 60p It's a very easy way to create some inexpensive art work. On the other side, an Image of the hubby with his rugby team after a very memorable win!
You can also spot my clock on the wall, although only a little bit in each picture. This was from Marks and Spencer.
Now... on to the kitchen!
Again, another room where I've have managed to paint almost everything. The walls were white, but they had a new coat just to freshen things up. The cupboards were a creamy yellow colour which looked lovely but it just didn't fit in with the Scandinavian theme I was going for! So... Off I went to B&Q and found some grey cupboard paint and got to work with my mini rollers straight away. I thought this was going to be a mammoth task and well it wasn't easy peasy, but it was so much better than I expected. Anyway, painting the cupboards turned in to the most rewarding job of the whole house. I am SO pleased with them!
The grey definitely makes our lovely white Gorenje fridge stand out a lot more! Here you will have spotted a couple more cows lurking around too. A gorgeous tea set I was given a couple of years ago in preparation for 'the house we will finally have' and I feel like the pale blue colour is just perfect in our new kitchen. Along with a couple of Sophie Allport oven gloves and tea towels... I LOVE our kitchen. Which is lucky because as everyone says, it's the heart of the home!
That's where my sneak peak stops! I hope you like what we have done to our humble abode. Now most the work is done, I'm so looking forward to sitting back and enjoying it... Until we tackle the garden!
Since the new house has been in the pipe line, I haven't been able to resist buying a good book (now we have the space to put them). I feel like I always have an excuse: 'This is a perfect coffee table book' and 'This will look great on the shelf' which I know is a silly reason to buy a book ... I'm not even sure they've all be read!
Homesense is my all time favourite shop, I love all the unique things you can find in there but they also have the most wonderful books and note pads which I have bought a few too many of. The books are always sold for a lot less that rrp too.
On my latest trip to Homesense I couldn't resist picking up just a couple more, and again... the perfect coffee table book! I bought Alexa Chung 'IT' which I have wanted for a long time but have just never got round to buying it, and for £9.99 rather than the rrp of £16.99 why not! I also picked up a very chunky and sleek looking 'THE FASHION BOOK' which I again I have wanted for a long time. I'm not to sure what the rrp for this book is but I got it for £7.99 which seemed like a bargain ... It would be criminal to have left it!
On to note pads which I seem to be equally as obsessed with and really need to just avoid these aisles because otherwise I wont leave empty handed. It's not good. But any way, I just really love a note pad and these really do get good use! Besides, they are decoration for the living room along with the books so it's all ok.
I think we are going to be needed some more book shelves at this rate, and now to end with a little book styling inspo because books aren't just for reading...
See, book styling is a thing!
I am beyond excited to be moving house in the very near future. It seems to have been pushed back and back but we are finally nearly there!
