When your due date comes and goes with no sign of baby, the days seem longer than ever. I have realised the key is to keep busy! Each day over I've made sure I've had something to do. Whether it's cleaning the house (again) going out for coffee... going to get the car washed... absolutely anything, but i've realised that I've needed to at least have a reason to leave the house!
I'm actually not going as mad as I thought I might do. In my head I always imagined having a promt arrival. I don't do late... so I guess I thought that baby would have got the memo. Apparently not! I'm only a few days over due now and did'n't realise how much I would actually trust my body and the baby. When it's time, the baby will know. It clearly hasn't done cooking just yet which is fine by me. It makes me think I must be doing a good job! The hardest bit, is knowing that baby COULD be here... and when you are just so desperate to finally meet them it can definitely make you feel impatient.
I'll just have to make the most of these quiet nights and peaceful mornings. Being able to shower when I want, having the time to put on my make up... because very very soon I know that is all going to change!
In the mean time... I need to find another way to use my time than online shopping. It's getting just a tad expensive!
Hopefully by the next blog post, I will be plus one!
It's THE week this week. I cannot believe how quickly it has actually come round, although at the same time I feel like I've been pregnant forever! The bump is now suitably huge... getting up off the sofa is the least elegant thing I can do and I could not feel more ready to finally meet this baby!
So many people say the last month of pregnancy is the hardest... but it has 100% been my favourite. Despite not being able to sleep, and my mind being completely consumed by what is about to happen... by 36 weeks I was just so excited to be on the home stretch.
The end has been so exciting. Finishing work is so lovely and having time to do as little or as much as you want to do is brilliant. I've had lots more time to meet up with the girls I met from our NCT course which has been so lovely. I'm now the last person in our group who is still pregnant!
Also in my final month I have had my baby shower! When this was planned I thought having it 10 days before due date was leaving it a little too close to the end, but it's actually worked out perfectly. It's made the last bit go so much quicker because I was focussed on that date in my diary for so long... and now I'm focussed on due date!
I'm so so excited to think in the next 2 and a half weeks I WILL meet my baby! Could be tomorrow.... but it could also be a good couple of weeks away. All the girls in my NCT group went overdue so I am fully expecting to. Hopefully I won't have to wait an extra 2 weeks... but I think I could cope with 1. Fingers crossed!
I'm doing all the things that supposedly bring on labour. Long walks, spicy curries, eating 6 dates a day, raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, clary sage oil... the list goes on and oh the amount of googling I do about it! In the mean time I'll be here, bouncing on my birthing ball hoping to get things going. I cannot believe this is my last pregnancy update! Time to meet this tiny human.
Over and out!
This weekend I had my baby shower and it was SO amazing!! We had the most lovely afternoon tea over at my parents house and it was just perfect. It has come at just the right time too. This last stretch has been the slowest of them all, and the shower has given me that final boost I need!
We ate so much cake and sandwiches which were all so delicious! All the food was from M&S which was so easy and hassle free! These little bags of caramel fudge were the party bags for the girls! Can't wait to tuck in to mine!
I was so lucky to be given so many beautiful presents and I just cannot believe that now it's almost time for the baby to arrive!
I mean, how cosy is this!! I've been looking for a teddy coat for a couple of seasons now but have never found quite the right one. I really liked the Whistles one last year but I couldn't justify the spend! This H&M coat however, was very reasonable! The only maternity item I'm wearing in this look are my jeans (Topshop Joni jeans, so are also available in non-maternity)
I went for the coat in a small as I knew it would be quite oversized and I'm so pleased I did. It's perfect! I can't wait to wear this all winter long. Also... it fits the bump inside which means it should also fit the baby strapped to my front inside. One cosy little combo!
The bag I am wearing today is Fiorelli and is part of their breast cancer awareness campaign for the month of October. This particular style I am wearing is called 'The Bethnal' which is one of 4 pinstriped bags in this collection. Just search #CarryYourConfidence on insta to see everyone getting involved in the campaign! It really is such a great cause, and you can read all about it on the Fiorello website just here.
Today boots are a new Public Desire pair, and I'm loving them! I feel like they are so flattering on the leg and made me feel the slimmest I have all pregnancy! Although with quite a heel height, I'll be saving these for evening do's rather than all day wear.
A spa day I honestly feel is one of the most relaxing things you can do! I actually had one back in July and it was so amazing that I re-booked for my hubby and I come to as I thought this would be a perfect pre baby treat for us both. Definitely making the most of peace and quiet while we have it!
Eastwell Manor is a Champneys spa hotel in Ashford, which is just over an hour away from home so not too far to travel at all. It has really beautiful grounds and is fairly new to the Champneys group so I was very keen to try it out!
Arrival was from 9am, which we aimed for so we could get the most out of our day. We got a lovely light breakfast on arrival before changing in to our robes an slippers for a full day of relaxation!
Both of our treatments were booked in for 2pm, and our lunch slot was 12.30 so we had a couple of hours to kill by the pool... not a hard job at all!
I have so enjoyed swimming this pregnancy, so I did a few lengths of the pool and we both then went and spent a little time in the hydrotherapy pool which is basically a giant hot tub... with out the hot! Perfect for a pregnant person as you are supposed to avoid the heat! No sauna or steam room for me unfortunately... so I made the most of this!
Soon enough it was lunch time and somehow we had actually both worked up a hunger! Lunch was AMAZING. The quality of food was so so good and it all felt super healthy. But oh my goodness... the chocolate brownie that we ended on was just divine!
Would happily have this 3 course lunch all over again right now. It was SO delicious!
After lunch we headed to the treatment rooms where we both had a full body massage. Mine was called 'Beautiful Bump' and Charlie's was the mens 'Champneys Massage' both 50 minutes long and such a treat! The massage beds are even heated!
Already tempted to come back again... but maybe I need to wait a little longer than a few months other wise this could become a very expensive habit!
