It has recently been my niece Darcey's second birthday... and to help celebrate the occasion I made these very pink and super girly iced biscuits!
I found the recipe on the BBC Good Food website (I find all there recipes so easy to follow), which I do visit rather frequently. Obviously, this is a hugely versatile recipe when it comes to the decorating part. They could be for absolutely any occasion! Here's what you need to make 24 biscuits...
100g Caster Sugar
275g Plain Flour
1tsp Vanilla Extract
400g Icing Sugar
3-4 tbsp Water
So first of all, get that oven set to 190'c so its the perfect temperature when your biscuits are ready for baking!
Into the bowl, add the butter and sugar. Cream them together until smooth creamy and well combined. In a mug, put the egg and the vanilla essence and give it a quick whisk to break up the egg. Then add it gradually to the butter and sugar mix.
Now, slowly sift in the flour bit by bit until well combined and the dough starts to come together.
Flour the surface you are working on and roll out the dough to a thickness that is about 1cm. Using your biscuit cutters of choice, get cutting out and place the biscuits straight on to the tray (lined with some grease proof paper, or... if you forgot to pick up grease proof paper just grease with butter!) so they are ready to hit the oven!
Bake the biscuits for 8-10 minutes or until they look slightly golden... not too golden though. These look best when they keep their pale colour.
Once out the oven leave then to cool before you even think about icing. If they aren't completely cool when you ice the icing will just run off the sides... not a pretty sight!
While you are waiting you can get some of that washing up done and start the icing mix. I actually made 3 different shades of pink icing. I iced half of the biscuits with one shade of pink.. before doing the second half with another. I actually planned to do three shades of pink but 2 bowls of icing ended up looking the exact same!
Make sure you sift the icing sugar as when you don't you get lumpy icing. I've seen it first hand! It's also very easy to over do the water but really try not to! The thicker the icing the neater it will look once set... and should all stay on the top of the biscuit rather than dripping down the sides. That's the aim anyway!
Before the icing has set make sure you add your sprinkles or decoration so they stick down securely!
And there we have it... Hopefully, 24 beautiful looking biscuits ready to be eaten by some hungry birthday guests of Darcey's!
This coat made A LOT of appearances last year. I was having to ban it from blog post's just because it was ending up in almost all of them! But for now, I'm very happy to have my beloved wrap coat out of the closest and in to the cold British weather!!
There is something rather satisfying about being back in winter boots and cosy coats... the hunt for a new scarf for the season has already begun!
Today I'm wearing my wrap coat with a striped jumper from Whistles (It's now in the sale! Link below) which I was after for so long! Just my luck... I bought it just before it went it to the sale... but it was totally worth it. It's had a lot of use so far! Keeping it in the family... Also my Whistles Irvington clutch with detachable gold chain. I wish I had it in every colour!
Also, I'm in my trusty Russell And Bromley Boots which are still going very strong one year on. Although, admittedly... the need a polish!
Have you noticed my new and improved luscious locks yet? My hair doesn't usually look this thick and it's all thanks to my new Lullabellz extensions! I'm wearing just one piece that clips in, and I chose the wavey kind as my hair is rarely straight for long in the UK! You can shop the exact hair piece here... and you can also use code EMILY10 for 10% off if you fancy some of your own!
I'm so excited the winter season is finally here, all helped by it being especially chilly the day I took these pics! It means you can wear so many more of your clothes at once! Hooray!

I admit it, not my most colourful out fit ever worn but I love it all the same. Especially this jacket!! I bought it last year as I was desperately hunting for something like it that wouldn't set me back hundreds of pounds!
After rather a lot of searching I finally came across this jacket on ebay... It was a bit of a risk as I totally guessed on size, but it paid off! I was so happy when it arrived and have been so looking forward to getting it back out this winter. It's like wearing one big cuddle.
It seems this year, there are a LOT more just like this in the shops... I guess I just couldn't wait!
Paired with my jacket of dreams I am wearing a basic fitted knit from Zara and my Topshop Joni jeans which are by far my favourite Topshop jean style (having tried almost all!)
Also, did you spot my bracelet? It's by a designer called Emma Calvert, and this bracelet is from her most recent collection 'Momento', which consists of the most beautiful and colourful unique designs. Over 8m of ribbon is used for just one bracelet!
You will also be able to shop Emma's designs here on Wolf & Badger very soon, so keep an eye out!
Back on my feet are my Public Desire boots which you will have seen in a recent post of mine. I still can't believe they are only £29.99!! Such a bargain right! (There's a link below if you're tempted too!)

Who doesn't love their sleep... I sure do! However, I've had enough of waking up and rushing around like a headless chicken to then leave the house with wet hair and eyebrows that I should probably have taken more time on. Sound familiar... I hope so! Anyway, here are my top tips to make yourself a morning person!
Don't we all hate the dreaded alarm? I love nothing more than turning it off on a Friday night knowing that I can wake up when the sun shines through the shutters in the morning! In the week though, it is very much ON. I'm that person who sets 4 alarms (sometimes 5) going off every 5 minutes so I know I still have just a little bit longer in bed... but the truth is each one is just as bad as the other.
Tip - Set ONE alarm... genius I know! Set it 15 minutes before you actually need to get and and actually get up straight away. It will be worth it! Also, I leave my shutters just a little bit open so the room is nice and bright in the morning for me to wake up to. If you wake up from the day light rather than your alarm then that's a bonus!
As soon as I'm out of bed I get in to the shower as quick as possible and that is where I actually wake up. Turn on that shower radio and sing along to get you in the mood for the day!
Tip - Use your favourite shower gel. I've recently been obsessed with my Molten Brown Ginseng shower gel but it has just run out!! So I'm back on to my Laura Mercier shower gel and body lotion which is so luxurious!
Who'd of thought morning entertainment was required... I love to put my iPad on my dressing table and watch ITV's This Morning while making a start on my hair and make-up. You can even keep an eye on the time whilst watching!
Tip - Don't start watching last nights Made In Chelsea, you'll get hooked and not want to leave it after only seeing 15 minutes!
4. Face Time
My everyday face is pretty basic. It probably takes me 5-10 minutes and makes me feel a whole lot better about myself by the end of it. Don't forget to moisturise first to make you look glowy and fresh even if you aren't feeling it just yet.
Tip - A good foundation is key! (I swear by the Bobbi Brown foundation stick!)
Whether you need to do a full blowdry or just a restyle, having gotten up 15 minutes early you shouldn't be rushing around just yet. Plenty of time to tame the mane!
Tip - If I'm on my second day hair I'll put my dry shampoo in the night before. It works a treat and means no chance of white streaks!
At this point my Hubby is down stairs with the Nespresso machine churning out our morning coffee. That smell is enough to make me hurry up!
Tip - If there is no barista downstairs making your coffee, get your cup and capsule ready the night before so at the push of a button your coffee is ready and waiting.
As you got your clothes out the night before (didn't you?) this should be a pretty painless and super speedy process.
Tip - Quickly check the weather app and make sure what your wearing is still appropriate... If not make a decision on what to wear and don't start trying on multiple things... you look absolutely fine other wise you wouldn't have bought it, promise!
8. Down Stairs
Time to make the departure from you bedroom to the downstairs world. Grab a glass of water to quickly hydrate yourself and just like that, your are ready to go with no headless chickens in site. You might of even had 5 minutes to read your emails and enjoy your coffee before you're on the go. Happy mornings to you all!
May all your mornings be calm!
As I have mentioned in a few of my recent posts, I'm a little excited that the time has finally come to swap sandals for boots! I have one new pair so far this year from Public Desire as seen here... and another very trusty pair from Russell & Bromley as seen here.
However having these classic doesn't stop me from wanting to add to my bootdrobe! ASOS is my one stop shop for all my clothes and accessories. The range of brands you have access to with the temptation of free delivery is ALWAYS to good for me to resist. So, here are my faves of the season so far! (I'm particularly in love with no. 8!)
