After my recent trip to Copenhagen, going through all my photos has already got me wanting to book a flight straight back there!
We explored the city in just 3 days. Leaving London first thing Friday morning and getting back home Sunday evening. But my goodness you can squeeze a LOT in to 3 days!
After just a day there I quickly realised that this was my favourite city i've ever visited. Quite a statement I know, but I ABSOLUTELY loved it.
Here is a little map of the city centre just as a reference so when I talk about each of the places hopefully it's a little clearer as to where they are!
So firstly... our hotel. I thought we were right in the city centre, but it is so hard to judge when you've never been before! Our hotel was just next to Tivoli Gardens so on the map you can see it's over to the left hand side. It was only 5 minutes from the main shopping street 'Stroget' so really very easy to get to, but not somewhere I'd recommend if you really want to be in the middle of it all!
Just off the main shopping street is where we stumbled across the most beautiful flower market! I wanted to buy ALL the flowers. There were so many and were all so perfect and colourful... so of course, I took loads of photos!
Sticking with the theme of flowers, if you head off the main shopping street to the left you get to the botanical gardens. At the time of year that we went there was very little in bloom but have heard in the summer its beautiful! I wasn't too disappointed though as there were plenty of cactus which of course are a personal favourite. The green house was really quite steamy inside.
Also over in this direction is The Round Tower. It was only about £2.50 to go to the top... but just as a warning it's a very long spiral all the way there so you'll definitely be slightly dizzy and a little out of breath when you reach the top. The views though are definitely worth it!
Another place that is definitely worth a visit is the Royal Palace. This is more over towards Nyhavn (saving my favourite till last) and the guards change here every day at midday. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen the guards in action on my stories!
I'm kind of going back on my self now, but over towards the main river (on the mainland side) was such a lovely coffee shop with a full glass front making for a really lovely view. Thats where this snap was taken...
Just over the river from here was an amazing food market. I didn't get many great photos... they all seemed to be a bit fuzzy from the steam but it was such an amazing atmosphere. It was almost like an old warehouse building and inside were so many food stalls, each of them smelling amazing! Right in the middle was an amazing brick fire. We managed to get a seat just the other side of it. I felt like this the most hygge moment I had on the trip!
Now, last but not least my hands down favourite part of Copenhagen. Nyhavn! This is where all the photos of the beautiful coloured buildings came from and we came back to this spot a couple of times each day. With he harbour running down the middle, the colourful buildings are mainly restaurants. I'm already planning to come back here in the summer next time as you could spend all afternoon sat here drinking wine and dining in such a range of cuisines.
Everyone was wrapped up in blankets and my favourite table was a couple with a bottle of white and a lobster to share. It looked perfect! Next time we come I'd like to get a hotel as near to Nyhavn as possible. I'm pretty sure it's where we would spend most of our time!
I couldn't recommend Copenhagen more, I've never left a city wanting to go back quite so soon. Also... from the airport to the city centre it is a £5 metro journey, so it really couldn't be easier!
I hope this colourful post gives you a little snippet into what Copenhagen is like. If you haven't been, you MUST tick it off your list!
My hubby and I booked this trip back in December. I decided this was the year for doing more... and so far this is city break number 2!
I had been SO excited for it for so long so was pleased to see the weekend finally come around! I' did so much googling before hand to see where to go and... I'm pretty sure I want to go everywhere. A colleague of mine actually went the weekend before us so I got lots of top tips!
We had 3 days in the city so plenty of time to walk lots and see all the sites.
First things first, packing! With a city break you really need to be practical. With only taking a hand luggage bag you need to be prepared with all your minis! This time I have the addition of some beautiful MASON products which will make the journey all the more enjoyable!
I decided to be very sensible this trip and only pack what I really need. Starting with toiletries, I've got my mini deodorant (I mean it's SO mini!! this is 35ml... I don't know why they don't just make it 100ml) a mini face moisturiser and a tiny shampoo, conditioner.
Now for something a little more luxurious from MASON are these gorgeous little soaps. They smell amazing and are far nicer than any miniature I could have bought in Boots. It's also so handy that they have their own little tin box so you can pop it in your bag not worrying that any moisture will escape after use.
For the couple of hours that I'm up in the air, I have my MASON mini cashmere blanket with a matching eye mask which are both so lovely and soft! We caught the 7am flight Friday morning, so catching up on sleep was much needed. These both helped hugely!
While travelling it is so important to stay hydrated. That's where this gorgeous stainless steel travel bottle came in handy! A lovely secure lid so no spillages to worry about!
With accessories aside, I packed a comfortable pair of shoes (maybe the most important thing!) a warm coat (my trusty Canada Goose) as the forecast was clear but chilly, 5 degrees was the peak, and of course a hat and pair of gloves. All set for a weekend in a beautiful city! I've even got my city map ready... courtesy of a friend.
Exercise is for the mind just as much as it's for the body. I always leave the gym feeling SO good. For me, it's the best de-stresser out there, and I soon realised... you never regret going!
We all need that little bit of extra motivation, whether you want to work out for your holiday in a couple of months, or to get back in to that favourite pair of jeans... I can assure you that a new gym kit will do the job and get you eager for the gym!
I'm a creature of habit when it comes to work outs. I always start with a 10-20 minute interval session on the treadmill (the length of the run depends on my mood and energy level!)
I run fast for 1 minute, and then walk for 30 seconds... and continue this until I reach my target for the session.
I then move on to weights to work on toning my muscles. This part I usually make up as I go along. I try to get a little bit of everything in each workout, so something for my arms, something for my legs and then lastly something for the abs!
All topped off by 5 minutes of stretching so I know I'll be able to walk down the stairs tomorrow morning. I do this once or twice a week... so nothing extreme at all, just enough to make me feel good!
Today I want to talk to you about gold... I'm not talking about the kind you wear on your wrist or your fingers, but the 24k kind that is found in this amazing range of skincare products!
I have recently been introduced to KINPAKU which is a relatively new brand offering a range of products set to boost your radiance, protect the break down of collagen while reducing those fine lines and wrinkles, which is music to all of our ears isn't it?
I've tried and tested a few of these products which have left me feeling golden and glowing. Keep reading for the the low down!
First up is the 24K gold handmade soap, with platinum, camomile and liquorice. So, this soap comes with a little net which you dip in to warm water just before use. You then rub it across the soap only a few times and then rub your hand quickly over the net making it foam up... that's when the magic happens! From just a tiny bit of the soap on the net, so much foam is created!
Then rub it all over your face for a really lovely cleanse. My face felt so clean afterwards so will definitely be adding this to my evening routine.
Next up is this lovely little pot of 24k gold moisturiser, with rose oil and triple seaweed extract. This is my favourite product out of the 3. You only need a little bit and the little gold flakes melt in to your face so no need to worry about being left with gold freckles!
This moisturiser has already made me noticeabley less shiny when i've got my make up on. It's such a lovely constancy and really soaks in to your skin rather than sit on top of it which I hadn't realised my old moisturiser was doing. A very welcome addition to my beauty regime.
Last but not least is definitely the funnest product of them all. The 24k gold face mask. This is such an amazing product and fun to use too. Before use, you need to apply a good amount of moisturiser to your face, then place the mask on your face foil side down and pat in to your skin.
The foil will start to transfer to your face and once it seems like most of it has transferred, you can peel off the paper leaving you with a gold leaf face!
I left mine on for a good 15 minutes to make the most of all the goodness my skin must have been absorbing, and then just washed it off by rubbing warm water on my face. I then re-moisturised just because I love it!
These were all such lovely products to use and left my face feeling so fresh and glowy. You can shop all the products just here below...
I seem to be forever adding to my embroidered collection in my wardrobe, and this jacket is my latest addition. I've paired with with a fairly neutral outfit so I can let the jacket take centre stage!
I've paired my denim jacket with a grey chunky knit which is so lovely and cosy. It's not quite warm enough to put the knitwear away for good just yet!
Also, I got this jacket in a size medium which is a bit on the snug side as I've got such a thick knit underneath, although I think i would prefer this style jacket a little oversized so would recommend going up a size and it quite cropped too.
I'm also wearing my slip on shoes which I haven't had a chance to wear out before now. I absolutely love them! They come in a couple of different colours too (see the link below to shop)
